A Prophet Enacts Judgment on the King

1 Kings 20:35-43

Chapter 20
35 And one man from the sons of the prophets said to his companion by the word of the LORD, "Please establish," and the man refused to strike him. 36 And he said to him, "Because you did not obey the voice of the LORD, behold, you will go from with me, and the lion will strike you." And he went from with him, and the lion found him and struck him. 37 And he found another man and said, "Please prepare yourself." And he struck him; the man struck him and wounded him. 38 And the prophet went and stood before the king on the road, disguising himself with ash over his eyes. 39 As the king was passing by, he cried out to the king and said, “Your servant went out into the thick of the battle, and a man turned aside and brought another man to me and said, ‘Guard this man; if he is missing, you will be in place of him, and your life will be in place of his life, or else you will pay a talent of silver.’” 40 But your servant was busy here and there, and he was gone. And the king of Israel said to him, “This is your judgment—you have decided it.” 41 And he hurried and removed the ash from upon his eyes and the king of Israel recognized him, for he is from the Prophets. 42 And he said to him, “This is what the LORD says: Because you have sent away the man of my herem from my hand, your life will be in place of his life, and your people in place of his people.” 43 And the king of Israel went to his house sullen and angry, and he came to Samaria.
